A fibroids diet may help you to prevent the growth of fibroids or help you to shrink them. It plays a vital role in reducing your risk and can help balance hormones which can trigger fibroid growth. By choosing the right types of foods you will be able to ease your fibroid symptoms.

Vegetarian & Anti-Inflammatory Diets

Vegetarian and anti-inflammatory diets also work well with a fibroids diet. Studies have shown that women who consume a vegetarian diet achieve a higher rate of estrogen elimination and detoxification. Plant-based meals are an essential part of a fibroid diet too, as it will help you to increase your potassium levels. So, if you follow a vegetarian diet more than half the time, this can have a real positive impact on hormone balance. Balance Your Hormones

It’s also important to take steps to balance your hormones naturally. In addition to following a fibroid diet, you can try using supplements, castor oil packs and essential oils. Minimising your exposure to environmental toxins will also help. Avoid things like bleach, food dyes, herbicides, pesticides, food additives and preservatives, non-stick coated cookware, synthetic fertilizers, air fresheners and harmful cleaning products. Some personal care and makeup products can also be harmful. So, choose natural and organic alternatives.

You should also try to avoid, or at least limit your use of canned goods, plastics (i.e. BPA), polystyrene foam products (i.e. foam food containers and cushion packaging), commercially-raised animal products and oral contraceptives. In addition to this, reduce your intake of sugar, hydrogenated oil, vegetable oil, caffeine, alcohol and prescription medications, as these all have estrogenic effects.

Lower Your Blood Pressure

When following a fibroids diet, you should also focus on lowering your blood pressure. This will be beneficial. Try to avoid or at least limit packaged foods/high-sodium processed foods and added salt. Where possible use herbs spices instead. If you’re a smoker you should try to quit. Avoiding second-hand smoke is also recommended. Engaging in regular exercise will enable you to lower your blood pressure and it may even help you to prevent fibroids from growing in the first place.
